This place is really accessible - 3 minutes walking distance from Formosa Boulevard Station 捷運美麗島站. It was once voted as the number 1 night market in Taiwan. Some say it has lost its lustre over the years though. It has mainly food but not much to shop for. Perhaps this is where it loses out compared to other night markets like Shilin and Raohe, where you can do pretty much both. Here are some of the food my friends and I tried, based on tour guide books and our own liking. I will indicate which are must-trys in the captions!

Papaya milk stall. President Ma came to this stall before. The drink is really thick and milky. |

Look out for this man who seats behind his stall to do his cooking, looking all relaxed and happy. |

Sells all sorts of BBQ meats. Must-try! |

In Kaohsiung, their lurou rice 滷肉飯 comes in a big slab of fatty meat, whereas the above is actually called Zaorou rice 燥肉飯. |
